Lyrics:
We
was camping in the woods, just me and my gal
I was setting up the tent, everything was going well
'till storm clouds started gathering from the east
And
I struggled to get the rain fly on,
ripped a hole in that ol' nylon
and yelled a curse that would summon up the Beast.
Then
a man in a mask came into view,
his horse's breath white where the moon shines through.
He slipped off his saddle, asked how things were going
I
showed him the hole I had made
and he chuckled and ripped off a length of Duct Tape
Man, that hole was patched before you done even knowed it.
chorus:
He said, "Son, there ain't no room for sissies,
To fix things, you gotta always be prepared.
So I always carry me a' roll a Duct Tape,
And he winked at my gal, rode off without a care.
Another
time, when my gal and I were eating
and a man walked in the diner held a gun up towards the ceiling
said, "This is a stick-up", and asked for all our
dough
And
things began to look real bad
I started fishing for my keys and cash
And I wondered how far this dude might go.
Course
our hero showed up, we breathed a sigh of relief
And he held the arms of the thief
He pulled the roll from off his belt, and smiled to himself
And
once the bad guy'd been all tied up
He looked around and smiled at us
and took a dollar from his pocket and picked a muffin off
the shelf.
chorus:
He said, "Son, there ain't no room for sissies,
To fix things, you gotta always be prepared.
So I always carry me a roll of Duct Tape,
And he winked at my gal, rode off without a care.
(bridge)
Now
the last time my gal and I were in the Yukon
The land's so quiet you hear the moose yawn
We went clear on out, to where no one ever goes
My
gal and I were in my beat-up truck
and what do you know, I busted my clutch
and I thought, "What'll we do now, d'you suppose?"
Then
I heard from the woods breaking leaves and sticks
And the Duct Tape man emerged full of burrs and ticks
He said, "I'm glad to see that you haven't starved yet,"
And
he lifted up the rusty hood,
used some tape to fix my truck up good
and said, "This oughta get you back to town, I bet."
----
Now
I've been grateful to the man, you can tell from how I sing
I've learned a thing or two from him about fixing things
But this time I have to draw the line, 'cause now he made
me mad
He
saddled up, upon his mare
and my girl said "Wait!" and climbed up there
And I ended up driving back to town, alone and sad.
I
have a hard time telling this tale I admit
I've had to deal with things that makes me want to up and
spit
But I ended up okay, at least after a fashion
I've
been busy these past many years
after wiping away these lonely tears
and now fixing things with Duct Tape is my passion.
