Click here to print this page.
  You will need:

  • Brown paper lunch bag
  • Your favorite color(s) of duct tape (Duck® brand duct tape comes in 20 colors!)
  • Scissors
  • Embellishments of your choice (stick-on gems, stickers, permanent markers, paint, etc.)
step1 Step 1: Make a duct tape fabric that is two strips wide:
  • Cut a strip of duct tape that measures your desired length (luggage tag can be made to any size) and lay it sticky side up on your work surface.
  • Cut another strip of duct tape to the same length.
  • Place the second strip sticky side up, slightly overlapping the edge of the first strip.
  • Turn the sheet so the strips run vertically and cover with duct tape (sticky side to sticky side) – making sure to overlap the edges.
  • Trim off sticky edges.
step2 Step 2: Using a permanent marker, write your name, address and phone number on your luggage tag.
step3 Step 3: Cut a small slit or punch a hole on one end of your tag.
step4 Step 4: Feed a piece of rope or a folded-over strip of duct tape through and attach to your bag.

To make a folded-over duct tape strip: cut two pieces of duct tape to your desired length. Lay one sticky side up on your work surface and cover with the second strip, sticky side down. Trim to desired width.

Optional: Make your luggage tag out of brightly colored duct tape to help your bag stand out against others.

To slide a business card into your luggage tag:

  • Make two duct tape fabrics (see step one).
  • Cut a rectangle, measuring slightly smaller than your business card, out of one of the fabrics.
  • Lay the fabric you’ve just cut on top of the other fabric. Seal three sides with small strips of duct tape. Trim off excess tape.
  • Slide your business card in and cut a small slit or punch a hole through the middle of the open side (through both fabrics).
  • Feed a piece of rope or a folded-over strip of duct tape (cut to your desired width) through and attach to your bag.
