You will need: Brown paper grocery bag Scissors Ruler or tape measure Optional: colored Duck® brand duct tape, stickers, paint markers

Step 1: Determine your desired size and make a duct tape sheet. Suggested sizes for your duct tape place mat: Large: 16 inches long by seven strips Medium: 14 inches long by six strips Small: 12 inches long by five strips

Step 2: Start your duct tape sheet by cutting a strip of duct tape to the desired length and lay it sticky side up on your work surface.

Step 3: Roll out and cut another strip of duct tape to the same length.

Step 4: Place the second strip sticky side up so it slightly overlaps the edge of the first strip.

Step 5: Cut and overlap strips until you have the recommended number of strips for your project.

Step 6: Turn the sheet so the strips are running vertically.

Step 7: Cut a strip to lay across the sticky side up strips. Start at the top and work your way down. These strips get placed sticky side down. Remember to overlap the edges.

Step 8: Continue laying strips sticky side down until all of the sticky sides of the “bottom” strips are covered.

Step 9: Trim off sticky edges

Options: Other shapes, like ovals and squares, make interesting place mats, too! Or, use double-sided strips to make a woven place mat. Decorate your place mat. You can even add your pet’s name, stickers, fish and mice shapes for feline friends, or bones and paw prints for your favorite dog.
